Cactus Flower Study II

cactus flower study II

This completes the pair of little cactus studies. Again, I would like to someday paint larger versions of these cactus flowers. Might have to wait until next year when they are in bloom again. It's too bad they only bloom once a year, they're so beautiful when in bloom. There are tons of cactus around my house and when the blooms come out I am out everyday walking and taking tons of pictures to use as references.
These make a nice little set to hang side by side and are available here.

Cactus Flower Study I

Working on small painting studies is a good way of practicing for a larger painting, which I will do someday...ahem...add it to the long list of paintings to do.
There is a second to this little set of paintings coming up next. Love these little sets!
This painting is available here in my shop.

Desert Snow

5 x 7" oil on canvas

These 100+ degree temperatures here in the Phoenix area make me want to go back to this past winter when it snowed! It's not a big deal for some, but to see it snowing in the desert is pretty cool. Of course I grab my camera right away and drive off in the jeep with my husband to go get the best shots! I painted this from one of my favorite shots from all my snowy pictures.

Help!

I have been working on several different things at the same time and it has affected my brain, I am at a loss with coming up with a name for this painting. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to email me. Thanks!

Snow in Arizona?!

Last winter it snowed here in Arizona, yes, snowed. I grabbed my camera and tripod and took off driving into Tonto National Forrest. The Four Peaks mountains in the background were covered in snow. Now I know it’s not such a big deal for most of you to see snow, heck I grew up in it, but we’re talking about snow right outside of the Phoenix area! It was quite a sight seeing it with all the Saguaros. I just had to paint it. I just might have to paint more snow, I took some great photos that day as I hiked up the hills looking for the perfect shot.
