Cactus Flower Study II

cactus flower study II

This completes the pair of little cactus studies. Again, I would like to someday paint larger versions of these cactus flowers. Might have to wait until next year when they are in bloom again. It's too bad they only bloom once a year, they're so beautiful when in bloom. There are tons of cactus around my house and when the blooms come out I am out everyday walking and taking tons of pictures to use as references.
These make a nice little set to hang side by side and are available here.

Cactus Flower Study I

Working on small painting studies is a good way of practicing for a larger painting, which I will do someday...ahem...add it to the long list of paintings to do.
There is a second to this little set of paintings coming up next. Love these little sets!
This painting is available here in my shop.

Reach for the sky

'reach for the sky'  6 x 8" oil on linen/wood

We have so many saguaro cactus around our house...all with their own personalities. Being a Disney nut, I picture the two on the right telling the other one "Reach for the sky"...you know, Woody from Toy Story said it when the string on his back was pulled. Ok so everything is related to a movie for me :)
